Design Notes
. . . This pageset is designed
with three primary table cells: there are
two cells with fixed widths which hold the
background tiles which compose the vertical columns on
either side. |
And . . . there is a
center table cell with fluid (percentage based) table width for
the page content. This design enables the page to expand and
contract seamlessly and proportionately according to variable
browser resolution of the site visitor. It will also expand
seamlessly vertically as content is added.
The
patterned background is a very small seamless gif images placed in
the <body> tags as the background parameter for the entire
page. The two columns which frame the page are actually the
same transparent gif image tiled in the table cell. This is
a method of creating a "layered" effect with html
alone. That is how I achieve the appearance of the columns
"sitting on top of" the background pattern, even when
the columns "move" in relationship to the page and to
one another when the page resolution changes.
Who knows? Maybe you don't care about this html construction
tip, but you might want to construct a page like this yourself
some day. One benefit of this construction is that it uses
only three graphic images, because the same images are loaded for
both columns.
The
font used here is "Semiramis".
The
zipfile for this interface includes . . . The background tiles
that compose the interface; 8 buttons inscribed with the most
common titles used in personal pages; blank buttons of three
sizes; the metallic gradient used in the title lettering; the html
for this page (index.html); a page divider; a linkback graphic to
Jaguarwoman Webdesign.
Please
note . . . There is a tutorial on how to do this kind of
lettering for your titles in my Tutorials
Section.
