The Rules

*The Slam happens on most second Fridays

*Sign up opens at 8 p.m. and slamming starts at 9 p.m.

*Three judges are drawn from the audience.

*All poetry performed must be the performer's own work.

*No props, music or costumes allowed.

*There are four rounds of competition.

*After the second round the scores are totalled  and
the top six poets advance to the third round.

*The top two scores from the third round advance to
the fourth and final round:

*Sudden Death Improv Round, where a poet must pull a
word from a pool of words provided by the audience,
then improv a poem on the spot based on the word
drawn.

*The top score in this final round wins the Slam and
$25.
