Being a Teen Mother

My name is Beth and I am 16 years old and the teen mother
of a beautiful baby boy named Jacob Daniel.
Jacob was conceived when I was 15 years old with my then
boyfriend Peter. Peter still visits Jacob and helps me
with buying baby clothes etc. I am very lucky in
that my family was and still is very supportive towards me.
I plan to return to school when Jacob is a year old
so that I can get my 'A' Levels and
eventually become a translator as I love languages.
Although Jacob was not planned and I am still quite
young, I feel that I am a good mother. I
love my son more than I ever could have imagined and I
would do anything for him. I feel it is such a
shame that teen mothers such as myself are
frowned upon for being bad parents. Don't get me
wrong, I can see both opinions and I know
that there are some very bad teen parents
out there but I think that this is the case with all ages.
I have had two baby sisters before Jacob was born,
have done work experience in a pre-school nursery,
have done babysitting for nearly two years and now
have a child of my own so I know the responsibilty
involved in looking after and raising children.
