I’m sure that everyone and their mother is gonna do a concert review for the ‘Boys of Summer’ tour, but I don’t care...I’m doing one anyway. *stomps her foot and scowls* (LoL...this is more just for myself, actually. Last time I went, I didn’t do a review and I was so mad ‘cause it’s all a blur now. BTW, if anyone has the order of songs from last time, could you please email them to me? I’d be eternally grateful! Oh, and I’m talking about the ‘98 tour, not the one that ran from Jan. ‘99 to May ‘99. Thanks!) OK, so here we go...(no pun intended...duh, that was corny...grrr...sorry!)
First of all, my concert experience started out *kinda crappy* (in the words of JC from Rosie! LoL...) We left in PLENTY of time, but there was traffic like NO OTHER. We waited on a line of traffic for an HOUR! (It took us an hour to move LITERALLY 2 miles...GRRR.) So, the bottom line is, me and the two friends I went with didn’t get IN till about 8:00. (It started @ 7:30) So...we only saw the second half of Jordan K., but that’s o-tay ‘cause he did ‘Give it To You’ last so we saw that. Anyway, they made us wait for **40** minutes while they set up. We kept thinking that they were gonna start soon, but this random music just kept playing in the background. Oh, and if you go...bring a beachball. People were bouncing it around in just about all the areas and it looked like a lot of fun! OK...finally the lights went out, and then the stuff we were waiting for began!
They had this whole intro thing that was all played up and showy. It showed them on the screen in the back, but it was only outlines of them. They pretended that they were on some kind of a mission and they had to be ‘transmitted’ to the stage. A guy was talking to us on the screen, but I couldn’t really hear what he was saying...friggin’ screaming girls...(wait I was one of them *scowl*) They kept showing a helicopter and flashing all these lights all over the stage and the audience. Then they showed these computer images of each of the guys with their stats one at a time while they were being ‘transmitted’. First it was JC, then Justin, Joey, Lance, and Chris. (If anyone is going soon, I forgot to look at the stats for my baby, Lance. If you could possibly just look at his height and weight, and email me...I’d [again!!] be eternally grateful! Thanks! LoL...I spent WAY too much time just staring at his PICTURE to look!) Anyway, after MUCH anticipation, (of course, they HAVE to drag it out!) they finally emerged. These ropes came down from the rafters and they slid down them and landed on this U-shaped lift that had ramps on the side, so that they could jump all over them (which they did!). The band was stationed in the middle of the U...not on the stage, but not as high as the part they landed on. They did some funky dance moves to weird music. They were wearing these gray jump-suits that looked like the suits they wore in ArmaggedoNSync! Then the lights turned off and they took off the tops to the suits and they had mostly red (but also gray and white stripes down the side) tank-tops on. YUM...they looked HELLA good. Grr...Joey had his BLAZING red hair, and I LOVE it, so he looked F-I-N-E! JC...well, he looked like JC...he never changes! LoL! Chris looked good too...he had his hair back to the old style where its not quite so shaved and it has the tiny braids that are all black. (Think IDMC video) Justin looked like a little kid for some reason (and he was the only one with a T-shirt on under his tank, which I thought was kinda odd.) Even Jen, my friend who is OBSESSED with JuJu though he looked really young. His hair was back to the old way of having lots of roots, and being rather short compared to the ‘fro he used to have. And then finally, (I can’t help it...I’m biased!) my baby, Lance. He looked no different than he usually does...but he is just SO beautiful...I was like in awe, ‘cause he’s so cute/hot/beautiful/handsome/fine/adorable - kay, that’s enough, sorry...you get the point.
So, ANYway, the first song they did was ‘Here We Go’...of course that got us all pumped, so it was a great intro. Their dancing just keeps getting BETTER, I swear. Mmmmm...holy PELVIC THRUSTS! They were ALL shakin’ their groove thangs and *then some* for us to see! The reactions are incredible when they thrust them...well, you know! :) Then, they went right into ‘You Got It’ and I love that song, so it was great - that one really cool hoppy/skippy/jumpy/punchy dance move they do for it is SO cute! Anyway, the they slowed it down. JC was out by himself and he was talking to us. He said how there are two things in this world that we all need: one is LUUVVVV (the way he said it!) and the other is a seat on the stage behind them! LoL. Then they brought out the 10 girls and sang ‘For The Girl’. JC sang the first verse, and then Justin sang the second like he does in the video (which they played on the screen in the back, actually). Mmmm...it’s SO good when they dance with the chairs. Woah...hormone surge!
Next was the decade/timeline thingie. They always showed highlights from each decade before they actually came out. First, they did the 60’s and they all came out in these Beatle looking maroonish suits with ties - they were lookin’ HOT. They sang ‘That Thing You Do’ from the movie, and JC sang leads, Justin...I actually forget what Justin played, Chris played the guitar, Lance was on the keyboard, and Joey was drumming. (He looked so cute in his sunglasses!) Next, they did the 70’s and their outfits were SOOO adorable! Joey, JC, and Lance had the ghetto ‘fros on, and Chris and Justin had those big floppy hats. Chris sang the leads on the Jackson 5 medley. They did ‘I Want You Back’, that ‘ABC’ song, and another one that I didn’t recognize. Then, the did the 80’s. WOW, this was SOOOOO awesome and SOOOOO much fun. They did ‘Celebration’, so they had the WHOLE audience singing along. Joey sang the leads...(I LOVE his voice...I don’t know why they don’t let him sing more often!) And here is the BEST part: For those of you that know the song, there is this really DEEP part in it that says ‘let’s celebrate’. Well, of COURSE, Lance did this part with his ‘gives me chill bums, drives me CRAZY, instant orgasm, oh-so-sexy, bellowing bass’ voice. Oh, for the love of GOD, that was GOOD. (Ya think I like this boy much?!? LoL...) Here’s a little funny tid-bit, too. I jumped up SO high after I heard him do this that I actually jumped forward and SLAMMED my leg into the seat in front of me...so now, I have a bruise the size of friggin’ ASIA on my left thigh! I’ve lovingly named it the ‘Lance Bruise’. LoL...and here’s the real kicker...I’m dead serious about this: this morning, the black and blue started showing up...The bruise is in the shape of an ‘L’. NO LIE. Its SOOO cool!
Anyway, lastly, they did the ‘90’s where they showed all the bad stuff (you shoulda heard the BOO for Monica Lewinsky!) and then they ended with showing ‘Nsync’s rise to the top. (Take THAT BSB! LoL...j/k.) Then they sang ‘Crazy For You’, but they changed their outfits to basketball jersies and (black pants...jeans?...can’t remember). JC had on a Miami Heat #22, Chris had an Orlando Magic #7, Lance had a Seattle Supersonics #4, Joey had a Chicago Bulls #28, and Justin had a Toronto Raptors #15(I think). CUTENESS! Then, they slowed it again, and did ‘I Drive Myself Crazy’. It started out A’Capella, and they sounded great, and then the music came in and JC did his little ‘aneurysms/looks like he’s gonna pop a vain’ motions! (Watch Jay Leno if you don’t know what I’m talking about!) Then they sang ‘I Just Wanna Be With You’ and that song has THE best dancing out of all of the songs, I think, so that was SO good. (Woah...I’m listening to my CD and it JUST came on...freaky stuff! LoL!) THEN...Mmmmm...my baby came out and introduced ‘GMHS’ like he usually does...He goes and tells us that that “God must have spent a little more time on us...” LoL...corny, but hey...he’s my boy, so it’s cute! They sang that and showed the video in the background, but I’m kinda sick of the song, so it was just OK...BUT here’s the cute part. (As much as I HATE Justin’s cockiness, he TOTALLY played with us here, ‘cause he KNOWS the reaction he will get...and it WAS cute!) He refused to finish the song...he kept singing “...A little more time...” and he wouldn’t say “on you”. He used his cute ghetto whiny voice to sing it, too, and in between, he would just STOP forever. He made all these adorable faces, stuck out his tongue, looked around all serious and finally cracked his award winning smile, wiped his mouth, etc. He was just toying with all the Justin lovers out there...and let me tell you, there are a LOT of them! (I felt bad for the others, though. Everytime he came up on the screen, they screamed like MAD, but barely half as much for the others. JC got a lot, too, but Lance got alot just ‘cause of ME(!) and Joey and Chris got, like, nothin’. I yelled for them just because I felt badly - although I DO love them, too!) Chris finally started saying something to him (but I couldn’t hear it...too many screams!) Then, there was this adorable little girl in the front row, and she handed Justin a baby-blue teddy bear. When he went to go finish the song, he sat down on the edge of the stage and held the little girl’s hand while he sang “...on you...” They showed it on the big screen...she couldn’t have been more than 2, so it was SOOO cute.
Then, while they were gone, we all started chanting ‘N-Sync with this drum beat. But here’s THE best part...omigod, I was oficially FLIPPING OUT...They played the ‘U Drive Me Crazy’ video! AAAHHHHHH!!!! That is like, THE best song, and the video is adorable! They were taking a break in the back, I guess, ‘cause it was just the video. It’s so funny, though, ‘cause me and my two friends know all the words - I have the German ‘Winter Album’ - and we were JUST talking about how much we wanted to have them sing it. (Well, the video is close enough!) We were SCREAMING the words and we were literally the only ones in our area that knew them. They were all staring at us! LoL...oh, well.
Then, they came back out in these funky colored outfits (I’m NOT sure if this is when they put them on...I can’t remember!) But anyway, then they did ‘I Want You Back’ which is my personal fave so I went NUTS. I had been screaming SO much so far that when they had us sing “You’re the one I want...”, I couldn’t even form words I was so hoarse!
Then, they put these white hooded jackets and white shorts and they did ‘Sailing’ with the whole flying deal. I was in the left center so I had Joey. :) That was good, I guess. I don’t much care for the song, but it was cool to see them fly. Finally, (all ‘cept for Lance :( ...) they took off their jackets and had these pretty dark blue tanks on that looked like clouds (think Blockbusters). They did ‘Tearin’ Up My Heart’ (and “when I say ‘N --- You say Sync: ‘N --- Sync”). Then, at the end of that, they hooked themselves back up again, and did all these twists and flips in the air while they sang a clip from ‘Ain’t No Stoppin’ Us Now’. That was cute. (But before they flew, poor Lance couldn’t get his hook-up fastened, so he was late...then they had him take off so quickly to catch up that he was kinda hurled backwards and his hood flew onto his head. He looked like a little monk! Sooo cute...) Wow, when they were flying, though, we could see the way the hook-ups were fastened, and the harnesses go around their, um...yeah, their ‘private areas’. (LoL...I hate being techical. AND I hate slang, too!) And LET ME TELL YOU...HELLO, JOEY!! And Justin ain’t doin’ too bad for himself, either! LoL...I couldn’t see Lance, so someone check for me! And, so yeah...they took their bows, we screamed some more, and that was it. Wow...it was SOO great, and it was SOO much fun. I don’t know how much of it was similiar to the last tour, ‘cause I didn’t see any of it. But hey, it was AWESOME! If you are going this tour: have fun!...and if you’re not, TRY to get leftover tickets for this tour or be first in line to get them for the next!
Two more funny things. Sometime (I can’t remember when...it might have been during “CFY”, they showed clips of home videos that people have sent them and also clips of venues, signs, and fans...and one of the clips, I SWEAR was from my first concert at NJPAC. It was a huge sign that draped over one of the balconies and said “UR A MIRACLE”. I recognized it...and so did Caroline, my friend that also went to the first one with me! I thought that was SO cool. Then they panned a venue quicky, and I really think it was NJPAC. :) And also, I bought a single Lance poster and I was so proud of it that I put it up in the window of my friend’s mom’s mini-van to show to everyone. Well, little did I know, the window was O-P-E-N. Needless to say, I let go of it and I saw my baby literally slowly slide through the crack. I was gonna go out and get it, but there was a huge truck coming and we started moving, and as soon as the truck passed, the van behind us RAN RIGHT OVER IT. :( Sadness!! Grrr...I was SO mad, too! Some of my other friends are going next weekend, though, so they’re gonna buy me another. Oh, how long did ‘‘NSync play last tour? ‘Cause the first one I went to(‘98), they only played for about 50 min. This time it was an hour and a half! (But they DIDN’T do ‘Giddy Up’...grrrr...I just love when they shake their booties during the “Ride it, ride it, ride it...” part! :)
Well, my apologies for writing a small novel, but I wanted to be complete!
