A painting of Johnny Horton, done by a commercial artist, and portraying him a Red Coat appeared on the cover of his Columbia album Johnny Horton Makes History, issued in July 1960. The album was Columbia's first stereo album. The album featured the songs Johnny Freedom, Jim Bridger, The Battle of New Orleans, Comanche The Brave Horse, Snow-Shoe Thompson, The Battle of Bull Run, The Sinking of Reuben James, Sink the Bismarck, O'Leary's Cow, Young Abe Lincoln, John Paul Jones and Johnny Reb. Columbia issued a post card commemorating the event, which was mailed to disc jockeys to promote the album. It contained a facsimile autograph of Johnny Horton on the back. The card was printed and color and measures 5 x 8 inches.
