The A.D.Zbinden's have a family reunion in August every year. The reunions started in 1972. This has proven to be a very enjoyable occasion and many family members bring visitors with them. It is our parents' wish that as the older generation passes on, the next one will keep the reunion going.
Mom's family,Edwin Worthys, were members of Headland Avenue Baptist Church.
They had 5 children.

It was inevitable that George and Jayne would meet. In fact, Jayne and Witt,George's sister, were "best friends" and there was a lot of visiting between the children of the community.
This part may be contested, but as Dad remembers it, until one Sunday afternoon while they
were playing and he shot an arrow and hit Jayne in or near the eye, she was just another kid
on the block. She cried and carried on so that he finally made the ultimate sacrifice
and told her if she would stop crying he would sit with her in church that night! Dad was in
his lower teens and Mom might not have been that old! While Dad was off in the U.S.Navy,
he found out she was "carrying on" with a boy in the U.S.Air Force. When he was discharged and
came home in March 46 they made plans to marry in July. Dad planned to go to
Howard
College to become a civil engineer and/or business man. The Lord had other plans for him. He
was saved in June 1946. A month later Mom gave in and married Dad. They attended Gate City
Baptist Church in Birmingham where Dad was called to preach. He finished at Howard College in
1949 and attended New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary.
The best thing that happened to Mom and Dad is that they began to have GIRLS!!!
They thought it was the cheapest form of
entertainment, until they began to have to feed, clothe, and educate us! Dad said by the time
they
found out what was "causing" the girls but didn't want to give "it" up, not even for Lent!
When we moved to Birmingham, almost 40 years ago, Daddy was lucky enough to hire a wonderful woman to work with him. Lola and her husband, Travis, have become members of our family.
We are blessed to have
George and Jayne as our parents. They have set a wonderful example in living the Christian life, by loving their children unconditionally, and always supporting us.
They not only have 6 girls but are Papa and Nana to 13 grandchild and 2 great grand
children.
