Well, you guys all must know this infamous story by now!!! It may take a while to read, so be prepared. Well, HERE WE GO!!

In the words of the great Walt Disney, "It all started with a mouse."Well, part of it anyway. JC Chasez and Justin Timberlake were then working on a Disney variety show called, "The New Mickey Mouse Club". It was kind of like Saturday Night Live, but for kids and on in the afternoons. The kids on the show acted, sang and danced to new songs and skits as well as cover songs. They even released a CD (Justin came too late to be on it, JC is though). Chris Kirkpatrick and Joey Fatone were working at Universal Studios, also in Orlando Florida. Chris worked as a member of a '50s doo-wop group and Joey was a part of Beetlejuice's Graveyard Revue. After MMC ended, Justin and JC found themselves looking for more work in the entertainment business. While doing vocal work in Nashville, Tennessee, they ran into each other often. Justin also kept bumping into Chris at auditions. So, when Chris told Justin he was thinking of forming a singing group, Justin joined in. He thought of JC and asked him to join. Then, one night at a club (don't ask us how Justin, at the age of 14, got into a club. Even though he has said he got in when he was underage, we doubt when he was this young.) in Orlando, Chris and Joey met up with Justin and JC. Joey and JC happened to know each other through a mutual friend and all four guys got along great. But, they felt that something was missing. Their sound was good, but not quite perfect. They wanted a "round sound. Top to bottom." as JC puts it. Justin got a hold of Lance through an old vocal coach. The guys needed a bass voice and they found an excellent one in Lance. Lance flew down to meet the guys and they sang the "Star Spangled Banner" together. Their sound was just right.
Now, all they needed was a record deal. With the help, love and support of their families the guys started shopping for a deal. But, they needed a name. Mrs. Harless, Justin's mom, thought of the perfect name for the group. It described their harmonies, their dancing and even their personalities on and off stage. They were In Sync. They soon discovered that the last letter of each of their first names spelled out N SYNC. Well, everyone except Lance. So, jokingly, Justin called him Lansten. It stuck as his nickname (although only for a short while). Now they truly were N SYNC.
Enter Lou Pearlman (former aid of the New Kids on The Block and The Backstreet Boys. He also owns the Chippendales, a chain of male strip joints. Yikes, that could explain *N SYNC's smooth moves;) j/k)and Johnny Wright. They took the group over to Europe, where pop music was and still is really big. A&R Director Vince Degiorgio signed the guys to RCA. Sometime before they really hit it big, Lance went to a psychic and she said to put a star in front of the N in N SYNC and they would become very successful. They did and look at them now!! Anyway, they were sent to Stockholm, Sweden to record their first album. Co-writers included the infamous duo Max Martin and the late Denniz PoP (who died in August of Cancer).
They hit huge in Germany and several other European countries with their first single, I Want You Back. Next came success with Tearin' Up My Heart, Here We Go and For The Girl Who Has Everything. Now, they were ready to come back to America. Two years later, out came their self-titled debut album in March, 1998. The first single was also I Want You Back. The video, however was redone because of how different the boys now looked. Their second single, Tearin' Up My Heart faired even better. Soon came their collection of Christmas songs on an album called Home for Christmas in America and Winter Album in Europe. The Winter Album also contained their fifth European single, U Drive Me Crazy. Up next in Europe is Thinking Of You a.k.a. I Drive Myself Crazy to Americans. The latest American single is a fan and group favourite, God Must Have Spent A Little More Time On You.
So, as the hits keep coming and the success keeps growing, we wish *N SYNC all the best of luck in the future, thanks for the incredible music and God Bless.
