The State-The Orphanage-Their Story

The "REAL" True Story

This is the true story of Roger Dean Kiser, Sr., an orphan, who was physically, mentally and sexually abused by the Children's Home Society, The Florida School for Boys at Marianna and the State of Florida. His poignant messages are sharp, sad, abusive and have a deep effect on the feelings. Yet, sometimes humorous. A heart-felt message which should be read by all who truly love children.

NOTE: While doing a book signing engagement, at the Barnes and Noble book store, in Jacksonville, Florida. A spokeswoman for the orphanage respectfully requested that I consider removing, or at least changing the name of the orphanage mentioned on this web site.

It is not my intent to hurt anyone with my stories. However, after careful consideration I do not feel that changing the name of the institution would be fair to me, or any other child who was abused while in their care, even though that abuse was many years ago. The truth is the truth, and if I have to change 'one truth' then I will have to change another, and then another and I will not do that.

I do have to say that I have no proof, whatsoever that the Executive Office ever knew anything about what was happening to us children. I do know that we would have been beaten half to death by Mrs. Winters, the head matron had we ever been caught walking toward, or into the main office, which was right next door to our dormitory.

The fact still remains that the executive office, or it's officers, should have known what was happening to the children who were placed in their care, by the courts of Florida. Especially since it was happening, almost daily for more than fifteen years.

In the following stories is the truth. I do not care what the Duval County Juvenile Court, or the Children's Home Society Records indicate. I know what the truth is and I have the witnesses to prove it, should anyone care to proceed to court.

I tell my stories not out of self-pity or because I want anyone to feel sorry for me. I have written these stories, as best I could, in a child's voice and strictly from a child's point of view so that the world will know what, and how, a child secretly feels when he, or she, is abused and is to afraid to speak.

Thank you for making this the most visited, most read child short story abuse web site in the world.

PERSONAL NOTE:

I hope that you will support me by buying a copy, or two of my book. I have worked thousands of hours, seven days a week for more than three years in hopes that I could help others, orphan or not, by developing my "free to all" child abuse web site. I only receive 82 cents for each copy of my book that is sold; so I have not made any "great big plans."

But it sure would make me feel good to know that I have made my country aware of what has happened to hundreds, if not thousands of innocent little children living in American orphanages, foster homes and normal family homes so that this type of horrible thing will never happen, ever again, to another child born in this country.
