Off To See Pimpy

Off to see Pimpy To be sung in the shower or car — or while eating Hershey's syrup at midnight — to the tune of "Into the Fire" (Music: Frank Wildhorn, Modified Lyrics: Amy Lovett)

Amy walked into the city
With two tickets clutched in her hand
She was there to see Scrooge
'Twas a Hanukkah gift for her man
Roger Daltrey, he was AWOL
At home fev'rish in his bed
So Aim traded the seats
And took Ken to see Pimpy instead
To see Pimpy, at the Minskoff
They were stunned by what they saw
What a play, what a day
They both thought through relentless applause
Oh what costumes, oh what music!
Oh that hero was divine!
He was tall, blond and handsome
And his voice had a glorious shine

CHORUS 1:
There was Rachel, there was Rexy
And Douglas was so sexy
As Pim-py
Scenes that hold you, songs enfold you
The laughter really rolls you
Through Pim-py
Douglas Sills stole the show in a moment
No surprise,
Aim would tell all her friends
Now they're in with the leaguers
And off to see Pimpy again!
Amy dropped a line to Douglas
Saying they were blown away
And she nearly fell down
When he called her the very next day
They met backstage, with her fam'ly
Doug oozed charm at ev'ry turn
So they're off to see Pimpy again
Oh the money they'll burn

CHORUS 2:
They bought programs, they bought CDs
One poster was a freebie
From Pim-py
Seeking articles and sound bites
And web sites before show night
On Pim-py
SP's cookbook would come in real handy
Should they visit their new Broadway friends
Belting songs from the show
And they're off to see Pimpy again!
Race "Into the Fire"
Let the force of it rock you
Choke your tears away
During Doug's stirring "Prayer"
La!
Let the frou-frou fly
Let the flash of it shock you
It will make your day
When Doug sings "She was There"
Sink me!

FINAL ROUSING CHORUS:
There will never be an equal
'Less Douglas does a sequel
To Pim-py
He is gracious, he is charming
His modesty's alarming
In Pim-py
Heaven knows we will never forget him
Never doubt his successes will grow
Whether acting, singing, dancing
It's off to see Douglas we go
To see Douglas
Onward ho
