Additional Information

Barbara GRAY:

Notes:
-- Barbara's first husband was Francis Murray; they were married in Noble Co., Indiana. He died in Pike Co., Ill. There were no children to this union. She then married Francis' cousin, David Murray, 16 years her junior. David's mother died when he was very young and then lived with Barbara and Francis. Barbara died soon after the birth of her only child, William. She died of exposure, when she hid out from bushwhackers (Civil War). Mary Jane Gray, daughter of Hamilton Gray, found her in a barn. Hamilton's son went the doctor for her when she was sick, but she died at Hamilton's home. Hamilton and Jane raised William until he was six years old, at which time Daniel remarried and came back after him. Years later, William related to his family that Mary Jane Gray was the one that took care of him and was like a mother.
