I am patient
But do not push
For it is silently
My heart will break
One night
And with no words
You will find me gone
Come morning

Disclaimer:All characters belong to abc TV, the words and this story are simply my attempt at adding some emotion to GH’s most unique couple. The first song is Psychopomp by The Tea Party’s Transmission, the second is Leave Me Now by Jann Arden, off of her Happy? cd. The third is off of Dayna Mannings’ Volume One the song is called My Addiction. (I don’t have they lyrics so I had to take the lyrics off of the radio)

“You forgot this” He held out her jacket in his outstretched hand. “Hello” Kathrine spoke softly, behind the door. “Would you like to come in?”
“No, not tonight”
“I wasn’t talking about that”
“I know Kathrine”
“Please?” She asked. He sighed. Slowly stepping into the blue black bathed room, void of any light but the moons Kathrine shut the door and turned to Nikolas. “I hope this wasn’t too much trouble”
“No”
“I needed to talk to you and knew that you being chivalrous as always would stop by with it’
“And if I didn’t?”
“Well Nikolas, this conversation would have been delayed indefinitely”
“so, Kathrine, I’m here.”
“So you are” They stood in the center of the darkened room. “Can you sit awhile?” He moved towards the sitting area. “Kathrine, what’s this about?” He sat down on the couch and waited for her to sit down next to him. Instead she started to pace behind him, “Nikolas. “ She took a deep breath “Wow, I knew what I was going to say up until it came time to say them. I’m sort of lost Nikolas. What are we? To each other? This isn’t coming out like it should.” She paused, standing behind Nikolas who wordlessly reached up his left hand and took hers. “Kathrine, sit.” She complied. “what are you trying to say?” She stood from her sitting position and crossed the room and curled down on the covers of her bed, her back to him and her hands below her head and her knees tucked up to her chest. Nikolas stood and slipped off his jacket and joined her on top of the covers. She relaxed into his arms as he reached up and wiped the tears away from her face. “Thank You” she whispered. They stayed there for a few minutes, Nikolas building up the courage to say something and Kathrine to say nothing. “Who are you?”
“Nikolas?”
“Who are you Kathrine? You know so much about me and I know nothing about you”
“You know as much about me as I do”
“Which is? Kathrine, who are you, Who are you're friends, family? Your home?”
“Nikolas, I’m nobody, I have no family, no friends, no roots. Where I was born, it’s the sort of place that you leave and you don’t look back. My life, my whole life is in this room. But what about you? You claim to be an open book but I don’t know all that much about you.” She slipped away from his arms and walked to the window, Nikolas turning to look at her. She spoke, drawing back the curtains to let in more blue tinted light, “I know you’re a Cassadine, you love your father, mother, aunt, sister, brother” She stepped back against the couch, out of reach of the light, and sat down, her back to the back of the sofa and looked at the ground. “I know I love you. I’m in love with you and you don’t love me.” She tucked her knees close and took his silence as a question, placing her cheek on her knees and smiled at him in the dark “I know you did, before. But now, any time you talk about it you always use the past tense ‘I used to love you’ or ‘I loved you’-”
“I was upset Kathrine”
“I know”
“I wanted to hurt you like you hurt me”
“I know, I’m sorry”
“Where are you going with this Kathrine?”
“I don’t know Nikolas, do I have a choice?”
“You always do.”
“Do I? Well what are they?”
“I don’t know, they’re your choice”
“Interesting slip of the tounge, I believe it would have should have been ‘our’ choice” She laughed a low laugh, dripping with despair. “A very Blanche DuBois role you’ve painted yourself in.”
“Thank you Nikolas, I’m so very glad you noticed, although I was going for more of the ‘Mrs. Robinson’ look”
“Really?”
“Yes”
“No.” It was a statement that moved him, up from his position next to her. He joined her on the ground, looking at the shadows playing on her face. He pulled her slowly into his arms. “I don’t know, I think we’re doing pretty well on the whole ‘Mrs. Robinson’ deal. Have you seen it?No?” she paused and looked out the window.

You wanted this
So sad to see
The sweet decay
Of ecstasy

And you want it all

A frozen sun
Will guide you there
As shadows hide
The deep despair

I’ll give you something more
And you’ll fade away
One last kiss before
You fade away

So sleep tonight
In idle dreams
The pain will drown
Your silent screams

And you want it all

I’ll give you more
And you’ll fade away
One last kiss before
You fade away
Lives you once adored
Will fade away
Lies you can’t ignore
You will repay
As you fade away

Each lost in thought about the other. “A falling star” Nikolas murmured in her ear. She spoke to the window instead of him, “Did you make a wish?”
“Why?”
“Falling stars and eyelashes”
“Did you?”
“Yes, actually Nikolas, I did.”
“That doesn’t surprise me, what did you wish for?”
“That’s between me and the star” She knew he was smiling, he bent his head and kissed the top of her head “What was that for?”
“To remember you by. Kathrine, I’m not as naive as you believe me to be. You don’t want to do this but here you are, doing it.” He plied his body away from her, standing slowly and walking to the door. He knew she wasn’t looking, but he told her anyways. “I told you Kathrine, that I love you, you just didn’t listen. I love you, am in love with you. Good night.”

Leave me now, don’t hang around
Just close the door and leave the key
Under the plant outside
The one you bought me years ago
Look how it’s grown
Go away you can not stay here
Take your heart off of your sleeve
And let me catch my breath
I hope you haven’t left a thing
It’s hard enough
To be here without your love
It’s hard enough
Move along , you don’t belong here
Wipe yourself of off my floor
And let me get some sleep
I can not keep you in my heart
It’s hard enough
To be here without
To be here without
To be here without your love
It’s hard enough
It’s hard enough
Leave me now, don’t hang around
Leave me now, don’t hang around

He did not go home immediately, instead he drove around aimlessly until unknown hours later he found himself at his home. A light was on in the front of the house, not a solid light, it sort of danced about in shades of red and bright. A shadow walked past, a woman, small and slim cross the flickering path. She paused and turned her head to him and then walked out of the path. It was Kathrine he knew. He also knew he could walk away here and now like he had there and then and over and over. He was sick of playing her games, she loves me, she loves me not. He walked to the door, opening it and looking in before the furniture void room. Sat there Kathrine, cross legged, staring into the fire, a cup of steam balanced on her knee. She was giving him a chance to run away, pretending she did not know he was watching her. He knew she was waiting to see weather or not he would run, he knew this about her, amongst other things. He stepped past the doorway and shut the door. “Hello Nikolas”
“Kathrine.”
“I hope you don’t mind” he made a nondescript noise and walked towards the stairs. Her eyes did not move from the fire and he stopped half way up.”Look Kathrine, did you come here for something?”
“You”
“Really?”
“Yes, it was about a moment after you left when I realized, I didn’t want to lose you.”
“Lose me?” He stepped down a step or so, looking at Kathrine
“Yes. Nikolas, I did tonight, what you hate the most. I tried to make your decisions for you.” She paused and took a sip from her cup and turned her head away from the fire for the first time “You need to get some more tea, I used your last tea bag.” She licked her lips and smiled, ducking her head down. “It really is a lot easier to talk to you face to face.” He sat down on the steps and looked through the banisters at her,
“Keep going Kathrine, you’re doing fine”
“or, we can do this your way” she smiled and then straightened her face “I don’t think I’m good for you. That’s not my place to say I know. And I know that I’ve caused a lot of issues between you and you father and mother, and your brother, and if your sister was any older, I probably would have come in between you and her. I’m sorry. And I understand that maybe you don’t want to be here with me. but I’m not going to make that choice for you.” She placed her cup on the floor and walked towards him, in front of him. She stepped up and dropped to her knees, level with him, eye to eye. He looked up from the ground and looked into her eyes. “What do you want Kathrine? Do you want me to say it’s ok? It’s not, I mean, in a month, or a year, or whenever, what happens if you don’t want me any more?”
“Nikolas, that will never happen” she raised her hands and took his hands in her face, “Never, will I not want you in my arms, in my heart. Nikolas, what I did tonight was for me, I’m a selfish person, I didn’t want you to leave me, I thought if I left, my heart wouldn't break, and it did. I’m scared of you, of what will happen when one morning you wake up in my arms and realize that you don’t want to be with me.”

He makes you feel like you can do anything
Something about him makes you feel loved
And something about him makes the sun shine

I feel it’s

Being around him makes you want to smile
And being around him makes life worthwhile

I feel that he is my addiction
He’ll make you feel like you can do anything
And he’ll make you see him, looks like you’re everything
I feel that he is my addiction
Help me feed my addiction

And when things you want to, change
Reminds me to say, to say
‘Cause I’m waitin’ I’m waitin’ I’m waitin’
For you at the end of the road
And I’ll find you, I’ll find you,I’ll find you standing alone
And the best feeling in the world
Is knowing that you’re here
It’s good

He’ll make you feel like you’ve never felt before
And he’ll make you see it’s something you’ll die for

I feel that he is my addiction
Help me feed my addiction

And when things you want to, change
Reminds me to say, to say
‘Cause I’m waitin’ I’m waitin’ I’m waitin’
For you at the end of the road
And I’ll find you, I’ll find you,I’ll find you
At the end of the road
