Bengali settlers attack and grab Hnila Buddhist temple in TeknafOn 29 December 2011 at 10.00 am Muslim settlers attacked Hnila Buddhist Temple in Teknaf under Cox’s Bazar district with the intention to grab temple land The attack was led by Rashed Mohmud Ali s/o Mohammad Ali (former Member of Parliament) and his gang. In this attack, the image Lord Buddha was descrated and the temple was destroyed. Earlier on 11 May 2011 the Muslim settlers attacked the temple in which two indigenous Rakhine villagers Mr. Mong Hla Rakhaine and Mr. Faa She Rakhaine were injured. This attack was led by Rashed Mahmud Ali and his gang. In this attack, the land grabbers have driven away the monk of the temple through physical attack and destroyed the images of Lord Buddha and looted the valuable. Rakhine community urged the Prime Minister of Government of People’s Republic of Bangladesh, but no action has been taken against the Muslim settlers.
