Bengali settlers murder an indigenous Chakma woman in KhagrachariOn 1 October 2011 Muslim settlers brutally kill an indigenous Chakma woman at Kamalchari in Khagrachari district. The deceased was identified as Ms. Protima Chakma (32) wife of farmer Priti Bikash Chakma of Kamalchari village under Khagrachari district. Protima Chakma went out of house along with the mid-day meal for her husband at noon on that day and since then she was missing. Around 8:00 pm villagers recovered her body in a ditch. Villagers found two legs of the deceased fastened and neck mutilated. It is reported that Ms. Protima Chakma wore a necklace made of gold. That necklace might be the cause of the killing. At about 11:00 pm Bangladesh police and army rushed there and took away the dead body to Khagrachari police station and on next day in the morning the dead body was sent to Khagrachari district general hospital for autopsy. Victim's husband filed a case with Khagrachari police station against a Mohamed Rafiq of Bhuyachari cluster village. On that day Mohamed Rafiq along with another Muslim settler from Bhuyachari cluster village was seen to ramble at that area. Sources: |
