Indigenous victims of Sajek Muslim attack

On 20 April 2008 Bangladesh army backed Muslim settlers attacked and burnt down 76 indigenous Buddhist houses in Sajek. The aim of the attack was to drive out the indigenous Buddhist villagers and grab their land. The indigenous Chakma Buddhists and their burnt down houses after the attack.


BDR (Bangladesh Rifles) torture 4 Chakma men in Logang

On 17 May 2008, around 11 am a contingent of 30-40 Bangladesh Rifles personnel (30 Rifle Battalion) led by Subedar Ajad from Logang camp raided the village of Lambu Karbari Para. The BDR personnel rounded up four innocent villagers and took them to their camp. They were severely tortured in the camp and then released. The victims have been identified as Shyamol Chakma (18), Nikel Chakma (17), Tuhin Chakma (17) and Ashim Chakma (27).
