Bangladesh army

On 19-20 February 2010, Bangladesh army backed Muslim settlers attacked the indigenous Buddhist people at Baghaichari. Many indigenous houses were burnt down including Buddhist temples. The aim of the attack was to drive out the indigenous Chakma Buddhists and grab their land. Members of the Bangladesh army in CHT.


Bangladesh army hit and injure an under age indigenous Chakma boy in Khagrachari

On 2 November 2005 at 12.00 noon a group of Bangladesh army from Rabi Chandra Karbari Para camp under Dighinala upazila injured an innocent student named Mr. Dipan Chakma (14) s/o Murati Mohan Chakma of village Rangapanichara under Khagrachari upazila. Dipan Chakma is student of Class IX of Khagrachari Vocational Textile Institute.

It is learnt that the army led by one captain went out for patrolling operation at Bagara Para and Natha Para area under Khagrachari upazila in Khagrachari district. At a stage they wanted to know about the way of Natha Para from Dipan Chakma, but due to misunderstanding he showed the way of Bagara Para. As a result, the army (name not available) became angry and hit Dipan Chakma with a spade. He was seriously wounded on his leg and admitted at Khagrachari hospital. The army gave Taka 100 for treatment and ordered his guardians not to do anything in connection with this incident.
