Bangladesh army

On 19-20 February 2010, Bangladesh army backed Muslim settlers attacked the indigenous Buddhist people at Baghaichari. Many indigenous houses were burnt down including Buddhist temples. The aim of the attack was to drive out the indigenous Chakma Buddhists and grab their land. Members of the Bangladesh army in CHT.


Bangladesh army raid indigenous Chakma houses at Naniarchar

On 12 May 2004 a group of Bangladesh army and police led by Major Kader of 24 EBR from Naniarchar zone raided the houses of PCJSS members and supporters namely Mr. Sudatta Bikash Chakma (36) s/o Tripura Charan Chakma and Mr. Kajal Dewan s/o late Debal Kumar Dewan at Naniarchar bazar. In this operation, the army arrested the following indigenous Chakma youths:

  1. Mr. Sudatta Bikash Chakma (36) s/o Tripura Charan Chakma
  2. Mr. Kajal Dewan s/o late Debal Kumar Dewan
  3. Mr. Papul Khisa (32) s/o Amiya Moy Khisa
  4. Mr. Parban Chakma (16) s/o Gyana Ranjan Chakma
  5. Mr. Debabrata Chakma (38) s/o Karmadas Chakma
  6. Mr. Padan Mauni Chakma (32) s/o Shanti Ranjan Chakma
  7. And other two persons.

The first 4 persons were released early in the morning and the rest were released next day. The army harassed them. The army raided the houses in the name of searching the miscreants.
