Bangladesh government meets PCJSS in Dhaka
The Paris meeting of donor nations forced Begum Khaleda Zia to meet the PCJSS in Dhaka on 20 April 2002. The meeting was held to discuss the implementation of the CHT Agreemeht for the first time since she came to power. She refused twice to talk about the agreement with the PCJSS after she came to power. Similarly the Khaleda regime was compelled to allow the UNDP mission to assess the actual situation in the CHT region for themselves. The presence of the foreigners in the CHT region reduces the level of the state organised violence against the indigenous people.
