Indigenous victim of Baghaihat attack

On 19-20 February 2010, Bangladesh army backed Muslim settlers attacked the indigenous people at Baghaichari leaving an indigenous man dead. The aim of the attack was to drive out the indigenous Chakma Buddhists and grab their land. The indigenous Buddhist man gunned down by the Bangladesh army.


Bengali settlers murder an indigenous boat man in Rangamati

On 15 December 2001, Muslim settlers killed Shukracharjya Chakma an indigenous boat man of Aimachara in Barkal. On that day the Muslim settlers hired Shukracharjya's boat for bringing their purchased cows from Aimachari of Barkal to Rangamati town. They might reached Rangamati at 8.00‑9.00 p.m. However, the dead body of Shukracharjya was found in the lake near old bus station and petrol pump where generally boats dock.

It is learnt that the Muslim settlers were Tk 20,000 in arrears to the cow sellers and they were supposed to send money to indigenous cow sellers by Shukrachaijya. The settlers might had murdered the indigenous boat man due to quarrel on boat fare or money in arrears.
