On 22 September 2012 Bangladesh army backed Muslim settlers attacked indigenous Buddhist people in Rangamati. When the indigenous people counter attacked in self defence Bangladesh army took side with the Muslim settlers. 76 indigenous people were injured and numerous indigenous properties were destroyed. The settlers are attacking South Kalindipur area on 22nd September.


Bengali settlers rob and attack an indigenous Chakma family in Dighinala

On 30 March 2001 at about 10.00 am 2 Muslim settlers named Mohamed Shahjahan and Mocha Alam Shah attacked Mr. Kamaniya Chakina and his wife Mrs. Nagari Chakina of village Hachinsonpur under Kabakhali in Dighinala.

Kamaniya Chakma opposed the settlers while they were trying to steal tobacco leaves from his tobacco field. The Muslim settlers punched and kicked Kamaniya Chakma for resisting their theft. Mrs. Nagari Chakma was also brutally beaten when she tried to save her husband from the settlers' attack. As a result, she fell on the ground and became senseless as she was pregnant. She was admitted at Dighinala hospital and then transferred to Khagrachari district hospital.
