Monks conference in Bilaichari

On 28 January 2012 Bangladesh army backed Muslim settlers attacked a Buddhist temple at Bilaichari of Rangamati. The Muslim settlers broke images of Lord Buddha and plundered valuables of the temple. The attack was in response to the killing of Mohamed Shah Alam (45) on 27 January 2012 by unidentified miscreants. Buddhist monks gather in a meeting after the attack.


Bangladesh army tortures indigenous Buddhist people in Jurachari

On 12 September 2000 at mid night a group of Bangladesh army men from Bandukchari camp under Jurachari of Rangamati district conducted an operation at Chegeiyachari village of Andar Manik under Jurachari. In this operation, the armed forces arrested the following indigenous people. They were falsely accused of keeping illegal fire arms. The army inhumanly beat them. The army handed over the victims to the Jurachari police station and sent them for trial to Rangamati. The victims were­-

  2. Mr. Natun Mani Chakma s/o Rajani Kumar Chakma
  3. Mr. Asha Chakma s/o Bijoy Kumar Chakma
