Monks conference in Bilaichari

On 28 January 2012 Bangladesh army backed Muslim settlers attacked a Buddhist temple at Bilaichari of Rangamati. The Muslim settlers broke images of Lord Buddha and plundered valuables of the temple. The attack was in response to the killing of Mohamed Shah Alam (45) on 27 January 2012 by unidentified miscreants. Buddhist monks gather in a meeting after the attack.


Bangladesh police torture indigenous Buddhist people in Guimara

On 10 September 2000 at 9.30 pm the Officer‑in‑Charge (OC) of Guimara police station Mr. Tajul Islam beat the following 4 members of Parbatya Chattagram Juba Samiti (CHT Youth Association) without any reason while they were returning home after watching cinema.

  1. Mr. Usai Marma (35) s/o Mrehlachai Marma
  2. Mr. Sajai Marma (30) s/o Maihla Marma
  3. Mr. Ranghla Aung Marma (22) s/o Uhla Aung Marma
  4. Mr. Tani Mong Marma (20) s/o Mongthu Marma
They were released with injuries.
