On 22 September 2012 Bangladesh army backed Muslim settlers attacked indigenous Buddhist people in Rangamati. When the indigenous people counter attacked in self defence Bangladesh army took side with the Muslim settlers. 76 indigenous people were injured and numerous indigenous properties were destroyed. The Muslim settlers are attacking South Kalindipur area on 22nd September.

Bengali settlers call strike in CHT for release of 26 terrorist

On 24 January 1999 Muslim settlers called transport strike in CHT for release of 26 terrorists arrested for arms smugling.

Under the instructions of the Bangladesh army and with the active cooperation of the various transport worker organizations in the CHT, the Muslim settlers were bringing a huge haul of lethal weapons to Rangamati. The settlers intend to use the weapons for ethnic cleansing the indigenous people of the CHT.

While returning from an Islamic conference organised by Islamic extremist groups such as Jamaat-e-Islami, Taliban, Harkat ul Jihad and so forth at Maijbhander Mazar-e-Sharif in Fatikchari of Chittagong district. But this time, the Police authorities of Rangamati district superseded the standing orders of the Bangladesh Army. The Police confiscated the said weapons and arrested 26 Muslim settlers.

Recently the Bangladesh government had slightly taken steps to check the ever deteriorating law and order situation with a view of placating the donor governments. This first confiscation of weapons confirms that the Directorate-General of the Forces Intelligence (DGFI) in collusion with the Islamic fundamentalist groups had always been supplying the Muslim settlers with abundant lethal weapons to enable them to massacre the indigenous people as the part and parcel of the state financed Islamization of the CHT scheme.

The crackdown on the Muslim settlers is quite galling to the DGFI who are master-minding the systematic extermination of the indigenous people. So to foil the Bangladesh government's actions, the DGFI secretly incited the Muslim transport workers in the CHT, to go on strike throughout the CHT for the unconditional release of those 26 arrested terrorists.
