Buddhist monk murdered in Comilla

On 25 August 2019, an indigenous Buddhist monk was murdered in Comilla. The throat-slit body of Buddhist monk Amritananda (50) alias Shuddho Bikash Chakma from Khagrachari was found from the river bank of Gomti in Comilla. Ven. Amritananda is vice-principal of the Gayanratna Buddhist Bihar (temple) in Feni, Noakhali.

On the day, the victim was returning to Feni from Dhaka by train. Islamic extremists might have killed the monk and dumped the body there.
