On 22 September 2012 Bangladesh army backed Muslim settlers attacked indigenous Buddhist people in Rangamati. When the indigenous people counter attacked in self defence Bangladesh army took side with the Muslim settlers. 76 indigenous people were injured and numerous indigenous properties were destroyed. The Muslim settlers are attacking South Kalindipur area on 22nd September.

Bangladesh government settles thousands of Bengali settlers in Naniachar

As of 15 January 1996, Bangladesh government is settling thousands of Muslim settlers in Naniachar

The Bangladesh Government is planning to settle another 300 Muslim settler families in the area of Uttar Nanaprum and Kukurmara in Naniachar, Rangamati district.

The Muslim settlers have been camping at Burighat, Baradam and Bagachari in Naniachar, Rangamati district.

Bangladesh government has directed Mr. Mridul Kanti Dewan a Member of the Rangamati Hill District Council to implement the scheme.

In 1947, India was partitioned on the basis of religion. In 1947, 98.5% of the CHT population was non-Muslim. The indigenous people of CHT opted to join either India or Burma. But Muslim League conspired with the Boundary Commission and illegally annexed CHT with East Pakistan in violation of the principle of partition. Successive Bangladesh governments have been sponsoring Muslim settlers from plain land to dilute the indigenous people of CHT. Bangladesh army's role is to protect the Muslim settlers and carry out ethnic cleansing against indigenous people in CHT.
