On 19-20 February 2010; Bangladesh army backed Muslim settlers attacked the indigenous people at Baghaichari leaving an indigenous man dead. The aim of the attack was to drive out the indigenous Chakma Buddhists and grab their land. The indigenous Buddhist man gunned down by the Bangladesh army.

Bangladesh army murder 2 indigenous people in Dighinala

On 4 Oct. 1991, Bangladesh army of 8 EBR from Babuchara Zone and DP Para Army camp led by Major Nazrul and Lt. Kaiser raided an indigenous Buddhist village Noonchari in Dighinala, Khagrachari district.

During the raid, Bangladesh army indiscriminately open fired on the villagers killing a couple and injuring their 2 children and a woman relative. The victims are:

  1. Mr. Rohini Ranjan Chakma (45), son of Mr. Brajalal Chakma of Noonchari, Dighinala. He died from gunshot.
  2. Mrs. Mohini Bala Chakma (40), wife of Mr. Rohini Ranjan Chakma. She died instantly.
  3. A very young daughter of Mr. Rohini Ranjan Chakma and Mrs. Mohini Bala Chakma. She was wounded by gunshot.
  4. Milanjay Chakma (12), son of Mr. Rohini Ranjan Chakma. He was seriously wounded.
  5. Miss Rajagini Chakma (20), the sister-in-law of Mr. Rohini Ranjan Chakma. She was gravely injured.
