On 5 April 2017, Bangladesh army arrested Romel Chakma (19) from Naniarchar Bazar in Rangamati district. Bangladesh army took him to Naniarchar zone headquarters. Lt. Col. Bahalul Alam and Major Tanvir inhumanly tortured him. On 19 April 2017 at 2:00 pm Romel Chakma died during treatment under police custody in Chittagong Medical College hospital. When Romel Chakma's parents and relatives were taking his dead body by boat from Burighat bazar to Hatimara village on 20 April, Bangladesh army snatched the dead body from Ronnel Chakma's relatives at gun point and burned the dead body to ashes in a secret place to destroy evidence.

On 1 July 1991, in reprisal to the Shanti Bahini attack of 29 June 1991, Bangladesh army of 8 EBR from Burighat camp raided Hatimara village in Naniachar, Rangamati district.

Bangladesh army indiscriminately opened fire at indigenous people. An indigenous person received serious bullet injury. He was taken to the Chittagong Medical College Hospital where he died. The victim is:

  1. Mr. Bijoy Prasad Chakma (60).

On 1 July 1991, in reprisal to the Shanti Bahini attack of 29 June 1991, Bangladesh army of 8 EBR from Ghilachari army camp beat 2 indigenous people at Krishnamachara in Naniachar, Rangamati district. The victims are:

  1. Mr. Majendra Chakma (30), son of Mr. Ganesh Chandra Chakma.
  2. Mr. Thyajendra Chakma (26), son of Mr. Ganesh Chandra Chakma.
