On 17 April 2011 Bangladesh army backed Muslim settlers attacked the indigenous Buddhist people at Ramgarh leaving at least 2 indigenous people dead and scores injured and missing. The aim of the attack was to drive out the indigenous Buddhists and grab their land. The indigenous victims live in open ground after their homes were burnt down by the Muslim settlers.

Bangladesh army set fire on indigenous houses in Mohalchari

On 13 January 1991, Bangladesh army of 24 EBR from Mohal Chari Zone Head Quarter led by Col. Shahidul Islam launched a military operation against the indigenous people of Laba Chara village in Mohalchari, Khagrachari district.

Col. Shahidul Islam ordered Maj. Rabbani, Lieutenant Shams and Lieutenant Matiur to attack the indigenous Buddhist village Laba Chara. Bangladesh army set fire on 4 houses. The victims are:

  1. Mr. Madhu Shudhan Chakma, son of Mr. Bipin Chandra Chakma. Vill. Laba Chara, Mohalchari.
  2. Mr. Indra Joy Chakma, son of Mr. Joggya Sen Chakma. Address as above.
  3. Mr. Braja Banshi Chakma, son of Indra Joy Chakma. Address as above.
  4. Mr. Sashanka Chakma, son of Mr. Indra Joy Chakma. Address as above.
  5. Mr. Bangalya Chakma, son of Mr. Ananta Chakma. Address as above.
