Chanchala Chakma victim of Bangladesh Police firing
On 30 June 2013 Bangladesh police opened fire on indigenous Buddhist people in south Khabongpujya area of Khagrachari district. An indigenous Buddhist woman identified as Chanchala Chakma (50) was seriously injured by the rubber bullets.

Bangladesh army torture indigenous Chakma Buddhists in Longadu

On 7 August 1990, Bangladesh Army of the 14th East Bengal Regiment from the Karalyachari Army Camp led by Maj. Atiyar arrested many indigenous Buddhist people at Karalyachari in Longadu, Rangamati district.

Bangladesh army severely beat them, abused them with filthy languages and then ordered them to move to the Guccha Gram (Cluster Village or concentration camp) immediately. Bangladesh Government moves the indigenous people to cluster villages against their will in order to distribute their ancestral villages and farmlands to Muslim settlers.

Some of the indigenous Buddhist victims were:

  1. Mr. Nira Chakma (55), son of Mr. Babru Bahan Chakma of Karalyachari village in Longadu
  2. Mr. Rabana Chakma (50), son of Mr. Babru Bahan Chakma of the above-mentioned address
  3. Mr. Birajmuni Chakma (55), son of Mr. Kalachan Chakma of the afore-said address
