Jyoti Ranjan Chakma, victim of Muslim settler attack at Jaliapara
On 17 April 2011 Bangladesh army backed Muslim settlers attacked the indigenous Buddhist people at Ramgarh leaving at least 2 indigenous people dead and scores injured and missing. The aim of the attack was to drive out the indigenous Buddhists and grab their land. At Jaliapara, the Muslim settlers stopped every vehicle and looked for indigenous people. Senior government official Jyoti Ranjan Chakma was taken off a bus and severely beaten up.

Bangladesh army torture and terrorize indigenous Hindu and Buddhist people in Matiranga

0n 17 May 1990, Bangladesh Army of the 32nd East Bengal Regiment from Taimatai Army Camp led by Capt. Rabiul Haque raided the indigenous villages Dewanpara and Misrichara Khamar Bari in Matiranga, Khagrachari district.

Bangladesh army severely beat the indigenous villagers and then set fire on their houses. Some of the indigenous victims were:

  1. Mr. Chandra Mohan Tripura (40), son of Mr. Mayaram Tripura of Misrichara Khamar Bari village in Matiranga
  2. Mr. Shudharam Tripura (39), son of Mr. Takrai Tripura of Misrichara Khamar Bari village
  3. Mr. Remrachai Chowdhury (48), son of the late Aungkya Marma of Dewan Para village
