On 19-20 February 2010; Bangladesh army backed Muslim settlers attacked the indigenous people at Baghaichari leaving an indigenous man dead. The aim of the attack was to drive out the indigenous Chakma Buddhists and grab their land. The indigenous Buddhist man gunned down by the Bangladesh army.

Bangladesh army tortures 4 indigenous Chakma Buddhists in Rangamati

On 3 July 1989, Bangladesh army of 5 EBR from Kudukchari Camp led by Major Mamun raided a local market at Kudukchari in Rangamati district and tortured 4 indigenous Chakma Buddhists. The victims are:

  1. Mr Mangal Chan Chakma, son of late Chandra Kumar Chakma, of Bhulya Adam, Naniachar. 2 fowls were robbed from him. He was made to crawl on the ground.
  2. Mr. Sadhan Chakma, 35 yrs, son of Mr. Chandra Mohan Chakma, address as above. He was severely beaten and 10 jackfruits were robbed from him.
  3. Mr. Nila Raj Chakma, 32 yrs, son of late Milarath Chakma, address as above. He was subjected to severe beating and 100 pineapples were robbed from him.
  4. Mr. Chandra Chakma, 15 yrs, son of Mr. Mohan Chakma, of Kudukchari, Rangamati. A student of year 8 of Mahapuram High School. He was inhumanly tortured.
