On 17 February 2011; Border Guards of Bangladesh and Muslim settlers attacked the indigenous Buddhist people at Longadu leaving at least 2 indigenous people seriously injured. The aim of the attack was to drive out the indigenous Chakma Buddhists and grab their land. A Chakma couple pick up the pieces after the house was burnt down by the settlers.

On 30 August 1988, Bangladesh army from Kuduk Chari Camp arrested 4 indigenous persons in Rangamati.

Bangladesh army severely beat them at Kuduk Chari Camp for 3 days. Then they were sent to the army camp at Champatali for further interrogation and torture. From there, they were handed over to the DGFI (Directorate General of Forces Intelligence) unit at Rangamati. Until this report is prepared, the victims are languishing at DGFI torture chamber. The victims are:

  1. Mr. Brajendu Chakma, son of Mr. Amritalal Chakma of West Hatimara, Naniachar.
  2. Mr. Santosh Bikash Chakma of Krishnama Chara, Naniachar.
  3. Mr. Satyaban Chakma of South Hatimara, Naniachar.
  4. Mr. London Chakma, son of Mr. Krishna Mohan Chakma, address as above.
