On 17 April 2011 Bangladesh army backed Muslim settlers attacked the indigenous Buddhist people at Ramgarh leaving at least 2 indigenous people dead and scores injured and missing. The aim of the attack was to drive out the indigenous Buddhists and grab their land. The indigenous victims live in open ground after their homes were burnt down by the Muslim settlers.

Bangladesh army torture an indigenous man in Ramgarh

On 14 Nov. 1987, Bangladesh army of 32nd East Bengal Regiment from the army camp at Guimara led by Lt. Shahjahan arrested and detained an indigenous Buddhist person at Guimara in Ramgarh, Khagrachari district.

On 13 Nov. 1987, Bangladesh army opened fire at the victim with automatic weapon, but the victim managed to save his life by running away. As the victim lost his shoes while running for his life, he came to search for his shoes next day at the place of the incident. He was arrested by the army personnel who were waiting in an ambush. The victim was taken to the army camp where he was subgected to inhuman torture. He was released on 26 Nov. 1987. The victim is:

  1. Mr. Sathuai Marma (20), son of Mr. Jadu Marma of Dewan Para, Guimara.
