On 17 April 2011 Bangladesh army backed Muslim settlers attacked the indigenous Buddhist people at Ramgarh leaving at least 2 indigenous people dead and scores injured and missing. The aim of the attack was to drive out the indigenous Buddhists and grab their land. The indigenous victims live in open ground after their homes were burnt down by the Muslim settlers.

Bangladesh army torture indigenous people in Ramgarh

On 9 Nov. 1987, Bangladesh army of 32 East Bengal Regiment from the army camp at Guimara led by Lt. Shahjahan raided the indigenous village Barthali in Ramgarh, Khagrachari district.

During the raid Bangladesh army subjected indigenous villagers to inhuman torture and beating. The victims are:

  1. Mr. Ripru Marma (28), son of Mr. Pano Marma of Barthali, Ramgarh. He was severely beaten by the army personnel at the army camp at Guimara.
  2. Mr. Dhan Tripura (26), son of Mr. Prabat Chandra Tripura, address as above. He was severely beaten as above.
  3. Mr. Amey Marma (27), son of Mr. Chaila Pru Marma, address as above. He was severely beaten as above.
  4. Mrs. Aungya Zai Marma (33), wife of Mr. Aungya Zai Marma, address as above. She was inhumanly beaten up by the army personnel in her house.
  5. Mr. Kyaw Marma (30), address as above. He was severely beaten as above.
  6. Mr. Kasam Tripura (35), son of Mr. Ram Tripura, address as above. He was severely beaten as above.
