On the night between 3-4 September 2009 Bangladesh army backed Muslim settlers killed Ponemala Tripura (50) wife of Bhibishan Tripura at Sindukchari under Mahalchari. The villagers recovered her dead body from their farm in the morning of 4 September 2009. She had a land dispute with the Muslim settlers.

Bangladesh army rape and torture indigenous people in Panchari

On 23 Sept. 1987, Bangladesh army of 43rd EBR from the army camp at Nalkaba led by a Naib Subedar raped indigenous women and desecrated a Hindu Temple at Paujjya Chari in Panchari, Khagrachari district. The victims are:

1. Mrs. Padma Sona Tripura (27), wife of Mr. Vira Sinha Tripura, of Paujjya Chari, Panchari. At 09:30 a.m. the victim along with 2 other indigenous women of her village went near the river at Paujjya Chari to collect fire wood. 14 Bangladesh army personnel attacked them. The victim and her companions were subjected to gang rape by the soldiers.
2. Mrs. Taloshree Tripura (28), wife of Mr. Krishna Ram Tripura, address as above. She was raped as aove.
3. Mrs. Mukhoti Tripura (22), wife of Mr. Cheya Dhon Tripura, address as above. She was raped as aove.
4. Mr. Swapan Kumar Tripura (Karbari) (60), son of Mr. Sunanda Ram Tripura (Karbari), address as above. He was severely beaten by the army personnel during a religious function. The Hindu temple or Kali Mandir was desecrated and the whole function was shattered by the army personnel.
