On 17 February 2011; Border Guards of Bangladesh and Muslim settlers attacked the indigenous Buddhist people at Longadu leaving at least 2 indigenous people seriously injured. The aim of the attack was to drive out the indigenous Chakma Buddhists and grab their land. A Chakma couple pick up the pieces after the house was burnt down by the settlers.

Bangladesh army terrorizes indigenous Chakma Buddhists in Matiranga

On 6 January 1987, Bangladesh army of 20 EBR from the army camp at Bang Mara raided the indigenous Buddhist villages Khedara Chara and Ajoudhya in Matiranga, Khagrachari district.

During the raid Bangladesh army severely beat, arrested and took many indigenous people to Khagrachari where they were kept under detention. The victims are:

  1. Mr. Kali Kumar Chakma (24 yrs), son of Mr. Uroj Mohan Chakma of Khedara Chara, Matiranga. Bangladesh army arrested and severely beat him. Bangladesh army took him to Khagrachari where he is being kept in detention.
  2. Mr. Sneha Kumar Chakma (22 yrs), son of Mr. Uroj Mohan Chakma, address as above.
  3. Mr. Shanti Baran Chakma (21 yrs), son of Mr. Nagojya Chakma, address as above.
  4. Mr. Muktoshir Chakma (28 yrs), son of Mr. Kinadhon Chakma, address as above.
  5. Mr. Sukrocharya Chakma (45 yrs), of Ajodhya Kedara Chara, Matiranga. The victim was arrested and severely beaten in his house. He was taken to Khagrachari where he is being kept in detention.
  6. Mr. Dwanda Chakma (20 yrs), son of Mr. Sukrocharya Chakma, address as above.
  7. Mr. Sashi Kanta Chakma (45 yrs), son of Mr. Chan Moni Chakma, address as above.
