Jyoti Ranjan Chakma, victim of Muslim settler attack at Jaliapara
On 17 April 2011 Bangladesh army backed Muslim settlers attacked the indigenous Buddhist people at Ramgarh leaving at least 2 indigenous people dead and scores injured and missing. The aim of the attack was to drive out the indigenous Buddhists and grab their land. At Jaliapara, the Muslim settlers stopped every vehicle and looked for indigenous people. Senior government official Jyoti Ranjan Chakma was taken off a bus and severely beaten up.

Bangladesh army torture an indigenous Chakma Buddhist in Matiranga

On 27 December 1986, Bangladesh army of 32 EBR from the army camp at Matiranga arrested an indigenous Chakma Buddhist from his home at Adya Para in Matiranga, Khagrachari district. He was severely beaten and taken to the army camp at Matiranga where he was subjected to inhuman physical torture by the army personnel.

On 30 December 1986, he was sent to Khagrachari for further interrogation. He was released on 12 Jan, 1987. The victim is Mr. Jotin Karbari (52 yrs) of Adya Para, Matiranga.
