On 19-20 February 2010; Bangladesh army backed Muslim settlers attacked the indigenous Buddhist people at Baghaichari. The settlers destroyed many indigenous houses and Buddhist temples. The aim of the attack was to drive out the indigenous Chakma Buddhists and grab their land. Bangladesh police fight indigenous people whose land was grabbed by Muslim settlers.

Bangladesh army torture 3 indigenous Chakma Buddhists in Panchari

On 10 December 1986, Bangladesh army of 19 EBR launched a military operation against the indigenous Buddhist village of Pagojya Chari in Panchari, Khagrachari district. During the operation, Bangladesh army severely beat and tortured following indigenous Chakma Buddhists.

  1. Mr. Sukhendu Bikash Chakma (38 yrs), son of Mr. Sudhir Kumar Chakma of Pagojya Chari, Panchari. Bangladesh army severely beat him and poured water into his nostrils and mouth.
  2. Mr. Sunil Bikash Chakma (30 yrs), son of Mr. Sudhir Kumar Chakma, address as above. Bangladesh army beat and tortured him as above. The soldiers also robbed a Ricoh watch and a pen from him.
  3. Arun Bikash Chakma (26 yrs), son of Mr. Sudhir Kumar Chakma, address as above. Bangladesh army beat and tortured him as above.
