On 25 December 1986 at 6:00 a.m Bangladeshi army personnel from the Dighinala cantonment rounded up Mr. Baribindu Chakma (38) son of Mr. Jatindra Lal Chakma of Sadhok Chara, Dighinala. Bangladesh army tied his hands and then severely beat him. Bangladesh army men laid him on the ground and kicked him like a football. They hammered his fingers. He was released after 8 and 1/2 hours of torture. He took refuge in Tripura state of India.

Bangladesh army torture indigenous Chakma Buddhists in Baghaichari

On 8 Oct. 1986, Bangladesh army of 41 EBR from the army camp at Marishya led by Major Wadud carried out a military operation against the indigenous Buddhist people of Tulaban in Bighaichari, Rangamati district. During the operation Bangladesh army subjected many indigenous Buddhist people to severe beating. Bangladesh army beat to death an indigenous person. The victims are:

  1. Mr. Surya Chakma (42), son of Mr. Rajeshwar Chakma of Tulaban, Baghaichari. He was severely beaten by the soldiers.
  2. Mr. Rajeshwar Chakma (65), son of late Vanga Chakma, address as above. He was beaten as above.
  3. Mr. Dhoneshwar Chakma (52), son of late Vanga Chakma, address as above. He was beatn as above.
  4. Mr. Vrisha Ketu Chakma (32), son of Mr. Fulleshwar Chakma, address as above. He was beaten as above.
  5. Mr. Dhoniram Chakma (80), son of late Sukro Moni Chakma, address as above. Bangladesh army beat him to death.
  6. Mr. Mayaram Chakma (45), son of Mr. Chikon Chakma, address as above. He was severely beaten by the soldiers.
  7. Mr. Motilal Chakma (40), son of Mr. Chikon Chakma, address as above. He was beaten as above.
  8. Mr. Kukya Chakma (62), son of late Cebeda Chakma, address as above. Bangladesh army severely beat the victim along with all his family members.
  9. Mr. Santosh Chakma, son of Mr. Suresh Chandra Chakma, address as above. Bangladesh army severely beat him, poured water into his nose and mouth till he fainted.
  10. Mr. Ajoy Chakma (30), son of Mr. Taruni Mohan Chakma, address as above. He was beaten as above.
  11. Mr. Hrishi Dutt Chakma (22), son of Mr. Suresh Chandra Chakma, address as above. He was beaten as above.
  12. Mr. Tuguluk Chakma (17), son of Mr. Komol Krishna Chakma, address as above. He was beaten as above.
  13. Mr. Arongi Chakma (17), son of Mr. Purna Kumar Chakma, address as above. He was beaten as above.
  14. Mr. Subhash Chandra Chakma (25), son of Mr. Amar Singh Chakma of Sijok, Baghaichari. He came to visit his relations at Tulaban. He was beaten as above.
  15. Mr. Von Chandra Chakma (27), son of Mr. Nilo Chandra Chakma, address as above. He was beaten as above.
  16. Mr. Protiva Ranjan Chakma (28), address as above. He was beaten as above.
