On 17 February 2011; Border Guards of Bangladesh and Muslim settlers attacked the indigenous Buddhist people at Longadu leaving at least 2 indigenous people seriously injured. The aim of the attack was to drive out the indigenous Chakma Buddhists and grab their land. A Chakma couple pick up the pieces after the house was burnt down by the settlers.

Bangladesh army torture indigenous Chakma Buddhist in Naniachar

On 8 March 1985, Bangladesh army of 305th Brigade from Thal Chara Camp launched a military operation against the indigenous Chakma Buddhists of Mora Chengi in Naniachar, Rangamati district. During the operation Bangladesh army severely beat and rape indigenous Chakma Buddhists in reprisal to armed clash that occured between the Shanti Bahini and Bangladesh army. The victims are:

  1. Nayan Ranjan Chakma (65), son of late Govinda Chakma of Mora Chengi, Naniachar. After brutal beating Bangladesh army released him on 9 March 1985 from Bara Bunia Army Camp.
  2. Saroji Ranjan Chakma (60), son of late Chikan Chan Chakma of Mora Chengi, Naniachar. Bangladesh army serverely beat him, subjected to electric shocks and had water poured through his nose and mouth. Released on 12 March 1985.
  3. Sashi Pal Chakma (30), son of Saroji Ranjan Chakma of Mora Chengi, Naniachar. Bangladesh tortured him as above. Released on 12 March 1985.
  4. Shantimoy Chakma (22), son of Saroji Ranjan Chakma of Mora Chengi, Nania Char. Bangladesh army serverely beat him, subjected to electric shock, poured water through his nose and mouth. Released on 12 March 1985.
  5. Bimal Chandra Chakma (20), son of Daya Nanda Chakma or Mora Chengi, Naniachar. Bangladesh army tied and hung him upside down from a tree, subjected him to inhuman beating, tortured him by pouring water through his nose and electrocution. Bangladesh army released him uith a broken hand.
  6. Jamura Chakma (18), son of Subilash Chandra Chakma of Mora Chengi, Naniachar. Bangladesh army serverely beat him and inflicted serious injury on the head. He was taken to a hospital in Chittagong for treatment.
  7. Jyoti Bikash Chakma (24), son of Subilash Chandra Chakma of Mora Chengi, Naniachar. Bangladesh army tied and hung him upside down from a tree, poured water through his nose and mouth, subjected him to electric shocks which made him fall unconscious several times.
  8. Kishto Lila Chakma (55), wife of Raj Mohan Chakma of Mora Chengi, Naniachar. She was kicked and severely beaten.
  9. Monisha Chakma (28), wife of Sashi Pal Chakma of Mora Chengi, Naniachar. Bangladesh army brutally tortured and raped her.
  10. Sushika Devi (26), wife of Sushil Chakma of Mora Chengi, Naniachar. Bangladesh army brutally tortured and raped her.
  11. Tungabi Chakma (24), wife of Ambarish Chakma of Mora Chengi, Naniachar. Bangladesh army brutally tortured and raped her while her husband was forced to witness the beastly act. She was arrested and taken to Ghagra Bgrigade Head Quarter where she was kept under army custody. Bangladesh army set fire on their house and robbed Tk. 5,000.00.
  12. Dolna Chakma (11 months), daughter of Ambarish Chakma of Mora Chengi, Naniachar. Bangladesh army severely slapped her. Bangladesh army men caught her by the legs and made her body move l round in a motion.
  13. Phool Kumari Chakma (11), daughter of Saroji Ranjan Chakma of Mora Chengi, Naniachar. Bangladesh army severely beat him and detained him until 12 March 1985.
  14. Papri Chakma (32), wife of Sashi Ranjan Chakma of Mora Chengi, Naniachar. Bangladesh army severely beat and brutally raped her. Bangladesh army took her to Ghagra Brigade Head Quarter. Bangladesh army set her house ablaze and robbed Tk. 3,000.00.
  15. Ananda Mohan Chakma, member of Union Council of Mora Chengi, Naniachar. Bangladesh army serverely beat him and he had to be carried home on a stretcher.
  16. Vinod Bihari Chakma (50), of Barpul Para, Naniachar. Bangladesh army tied and hung him upside down, then poured water through his nose and mouth. Bangladesh army severely beat him, subjected him to electric shocks. Two of his teeth fell off due to torture.
  17. Nagar Chan Chakma of Barpul Para, Naniachar. Bangladesh army severely beat and tortured him as above.
