To begin, let me introduce myself. I am Tom McHale. I was one of the people running Philadelphia Backyard Wrestling. Although I have retired from the sport itself, for over two years I was a wrestler, so I know my way around a ring. I’ve held PBW Tag Team Titles, The Pennsylvania Title, The World Title, and even the HCWF Tri-State Title. As you can see, I believe myself to be somewhat knowledgeable when it comes to both the wrestling and backstage aspects of the business. With that out of the way, now its time to get a few things covered. Welcome to the first edition of “The Echoside”…
The Tournament of Champions has come and gone, and now we are left waiting for what happens next. I’m quite sure that that is exactly the question on everyone’s mind – What next? Casey McCrazie is the HCWF Super Crown Champion, and holds every HCWF/PBW Title. The problem is, no one man can hold all of those titles, so he’s going to have to do something with them. Now, as far as I can see, he only has three real options. He can either try defending them all himself, he can put them up for grabs in matches amongst other wrestlers, or he can simply distribute them out however he wants.
If he puts the titles up for grabs in matches he sets up amongst the HCWF wrestlers, I’m sure things may seem a little odd. For one, this is Casey McCrazie, after all - You know he will only put the wrestlers he wants in the matches. Instantly, you would think he would be putting them up amongst the people he aligns himself with… but when you look at the current situation, who exactly is he aligned with? He wrestled one half of The Freestylerz, Johnny G, back at the Tournament of Champions. We know that he and The Freestylerz were all together, but after that display, are they still on the same terms? Mr. Showtime wasn’t in attendance, so we can’t tell what his stance is, but I’m sure that we’ll know how this all plays out soon enough. And the same idea is still in effect if he intends on distributing out the Titles to whomever he chooses.
Then again, he may plan on defending them all himself, but if he does he’s going to have his work cut out for him. Now, I give Casey McCrazie all of the respect in the world; he deserves it. However, it just doesn’t seem feasible for him to be able to wrestle match after match against people with a chance to win an HCWF Championship. Then again, he always has the option to defend the Super Crown Championship as a packaged deal as he intends to do on June 26th against The Brutal One and Nicky Gunner. Speaking of which, why am I talking about what Casey will do with the titles? In about a week, I might end up having to write a whole new column about what The Brutal One or The .44 Caliber Killer will be doing with the Titles.
I suppose we’ll just have to wait for The Charity Show on June 26th before we can start trying to interpret our vision of the future.
While we’re on the topic of The Charity Show, we may as well look at some of the other scheduled matches. We are supposed to finally witness the debut of Judas, as he and Cerebus are going to take on Mayhem, Falkon, and Stax Pac in a 3-on-2 match up. Falkon and Stax Pac are new to the HCWF, but I’ve seen them wrestle in PBW, and although a little rough on the edges, they can hold their own.
JD Cruz, Joe “VIP”, and Azma are all going to take eachother on in a triple threat match, as well. Angel and Obsydian are going to team up to take on Myke Victor Payne and Jack “The Ripper, who along with Destiny, make up The North American Pact. And to top it all off, the main topic of discussion – The HCWF Super Crown Champion, Casey McCrazie, will defend his titles against The Brutal One and Nicky Gunner. Oh, I forgot something… you know how I just called it The HCWF Super Crown Championship, and the fact that all of this is The HCWF? Well replace HCWF with ACW. Heh, I guess that’s something for another edition of “The Echoside”…
