Kids was nominated for "Best First Feature" at The Independent Spirit Awards, but the honor was given to the Burns / Fisher duo for The Brothers McMullen. Kids was also nominated for "Best First Screenplay," but Paul Aster of Smoke recieved the award. Actor Justin Pierce won "Best Debut Performance" and actress Chloë Sevigny was nominated for the "Best Supporting Actress" award, both for their roles in Kids. Other award winners and nominees were Jennifer Jason Leigh, Lili Taylor, Rose McGowan, Max Perlich, and Elisabeth Shue.
