"Bis split
It’s with great regret that Bis have decided to announce their split. After nine years together, three albums and countless singles, the band feel the time has come to put Bis to rest.

Bis would like to thank all their fans from through the years, especially those who stayed from day one until the end, and would like to assure them that Amanda, John and Steven will continue to make music in some capacity." -taken from Bis Nation

It's strange writing about Bis for perhaps the last time whilst simultaneously downloading and listening to their final track "Today Of All Days". Over the past nine years I have watched the group turn from teen-angst filled 'punk rock' popstars to mature electro musicians. In that time I have enjoyed many a weekend bopping along to the likes of 'Secret Vampires', 'Detour' and 'Love Will Tear Us Apart' (the word bopping is now officially cool in case you didn't know); from the sugary delight of 'Sweet Shop Avengers' to the "euro-dance" joy that is 'DJ', I simply couldn't help myself, despite the strange looks of disapproval from so-called 'friends'.
It's unfortunate that the group was constantly labeled as "one hit wonders"; the music press needed a scape goat with all that they - the proprietors of musical taste - deemed wrong with legitimate pop. Bis just happened to fit the bill.

It took me almost three months to track down the band's final album. It was no surprise though as it used to take me that long to find any Bis material whilst hunting in stores throughout the country. Trips to London and Birmingham were often successful for rare imports, however, the only place I have ever found that final CD was in my local run-of-the-mill HMV four months ago. The irony, eh!
It's also perhaps strangely ironic to look back at what the group were attacked for: Amanda's weight being such an issue in the light of Kelly Osbourne and numerous 'tubby' rock band members (it's chic to have "a fat one" y'know). The criticisms of tracks like "This Is Fake D.I.Y." and "Popstarr" seem laughable when Good Charlotte's "Lifestyles Of The Rich & Famous" is riding so high in both the US and UK radio play lists. The accusations of 'cheeze-ee pop' when Will Young and Gareth Gates are trying their very bests to 'keep it real' for the fans.
I admit that I haven't listened very much to the last album - perhaps I should trudge my CD collection and finally give it the time it so rightly deserved.

C'ya around guys - we will miss you greatly xXx

TODAY OF ALL DAYS

Today of all days

They said that your face
Could take you to Hollywood
You said you’d like a taste
And I bet you would
It’s not fun, hanging on, gotta run
But if there’s one thing stopping me now
It’s my heart in my mouth
For my sins I begin to breathe in
And if there’s one thing stopping me now
It’s my heart in my mouth

Chorus
You live, I learn
You crash, I burn
Always this way
Today of all days

You changed the locks
When you came back from Hollywood
I tried accommodating
The best I could
It’s not fame, it’s a shame, change my name
But if there’s one thing stopping me now
It’s my heart in my mouth
Forgot what I was taught, give it up
And if there’s one thing stopping me now
It’s my heart in my mouth

Repeat chorus

There’s so much that I’ve been through
Day and night I have been thinking of you
Now I see something in your eyes
Never have thought it would be me you despise
Thinking of you, thinking of you
Every day and night I have been thinking of you
Me you despise, me you despise
Never would have thought it would be me you despise

Repeat chorus
