DMB's fearless leader breaks rib in interesting case

Tuesday morning started off rather strange in the online DMB community as
rumors of Dave Matthews breaking his ribs began flying around the Internet.
Several radio stations, mainly located in New York, were saying that the DMB
frontman had caused damage to his ribcage in a freak accident sometime
Monday. The truth always comes out, however, but this time the rumors were true
(or at least not far off). Fans who were in attendance Sunday night at Dave
Matthews Band's second Foxboro show knew about Matthews' fall even before the
radio myriad. At the concert Matthews told the sold-out crowd of 55,000 that he
had tripped on his guitar case while attempting to catch a grape in his mouth.
"I busted my ass," said Matthews, who landed directly in his guitar case when
he tripped sometime this past weekend. X-rays on Monday showed that the
frontman had broken one rib, according to DMB newsgroup fans and a Red Light
administrator of the band's official website. Other than the injured rib
Matthews only reports having a "sore ass," and the band will continue to
perform as scheduled.
