DC F.A.Q.

1) What do time crystals do?
Time crystals currently do nothing. You can sell them for a lot of money, but that's about it. It's rumored they will serve some purpose in DC v2.0 .

2) How do you send stuff to other people?
To do this you must enter the castle. To enter the castle buy a castle permit or kill/bribe/mesmerize the first castle guard. Once in you will be able to get into the post office, here you click on the send package button and you will be able to choose what you wish to send from your backpack's inventory. It costs $100 to send one type of an item, for example it cost $200 to send one ruby and one emerald, but only $100 to send a hundred rubies, weapons are different. Two matchlock rifles would= $200 dollars, so it is always a $100 per weapon. And when you send mail it takes a whole day to get there, so if you send something today it won't be able to be picked up until tomorrow, no matter what it is.

3) What is/how do you use/ where do you find a bushido token?
A bushido token is an item that gives the powerful Ieatsu skill. You use it when fighting a samurai in Shangala, you must have an open skill spot (you know those warrior, mage, trader things) and the option will occur in the fight. The token is also obtained through samurai. After presenting it to the samurai, he can deny or accept you. If denied, you get hit by an ieatsu and your token is smashed. If you're accepted, you gain an ieatsu and lose three of each stat(guts, wits, charm).

4) What is the difference (what do they do) between mandrake roots and ginseng roots?
You could take a quick look at the item list or I'll explain again. Mandrake roots refill one of your used quests. Ginseng roots give an extra use in battle, say you can use 3 things normally and you need to use another item (lets say a seltzer water, because you're out of gold apples) so you use the ginseng root first then you'll have 4 uses, you use your 3 healing salves and then your seltzer water. This would heal 45 damage and cure a status problem.

5) How do you remove a cursed weapon?
You must bless it with a bless scroll which can be bought in the mountain shop or found in other places (mounds,docks,etc...). There is another more complicated way, as well. The second way is first use a glow scroll on the equipment. Next, go quest in the goblin mounds an let a worm suck off your glowing/cursed weapon. Kill the worm, and you'll get the equipment back in your backpack, with glow and curse.

6) Where are these Shangala and Hie Brasil places?
They are sort of in the docks. You must first obtain a rutter to each place. You'll recieve the rutter to Hie Brasil first, they can be found in the mountains through giants or through the mages in the dungeons. Once you make it to Hie Brasil you will fight monsters called Damocles/Ramses(they have a few other names), you'll recieve a rutter to Shangala from them. Be warned though, Shangala is a tough place to conquer. There are samurai and shogun/morumachi/yoritomos(etc) that can Ieatsu, a serious attack which does in upwards of 210 damage when you have a defense of 60.

7) How do you join a clan?
Well you must enter the castle and go to Clan Hall (read instructions above on how to send mail if you wish to know how to gain entrance to the castle). You'll see a text box where you can type in the name of the clan you wish to join, or create (it takes 75 quests to create a clan, and you must be a baron and have 250,000 marks, a nice chunk of money). When you enter the name of the clan you want, hit enter, it should search and bring up info about the clan(leader name, power of clan, etc...). Next, click the button on the bottom which says "make it so join" or "make it so create", whichever you are trying to accomplish, and then the "Petition to join" button should become usable now. Click the button to petition(this takes a quest and a 1000 marks). It is like sending mail so it won't get to the clan leader until the next day, then they have the option of accepting (which they will most likely do) or deny you. If they accept you, which they most likely will, they will then send you a grant which you will recieve the day after the leader actually gets to your petition. You will recieve it through the post office, which you can then use as an item, once you use it you are in the clan.

8)How do I switch/quit my clan?
To switch clans, you must first quit your previous clan(even if your clan is disbanded, you still must quit it). To quit your clan you must once again venture into clan hall, in the castle. Now all your clan information should already be there. Now you'll see a button at the bottom that says "make it so quit". From here you can logically assume you click this, and the a new button will come up(much like the "Petition to join" button) that will allow you to quit your clan(this will take 3 quests...I think, and 5000 marks). If you try and join another clan without quitting your first, after using the petition for the second clan it blows up in your face, causes you take damage, and you still will be in your original clan. To switch clans after switching, you just have to go through the joining process again.

9)How do I join a guild?
To join a guild you must venture into the forest, first. In the forest, you'll eventually find the Free Adventurers Guild Tower. Here you'll see a button(or you should, anyway) that says join. To join, you need 5 quests and 4000 marks. After joining you may purchase(you get one for free if you didn't start out with any) new guild skills(learn about elswhere in the FAQ). You may only have as many guild skills as your level(you're level 10, you can have/buy 10 guild skills, this does not include clan abilities which will give you extra guild skills). Every time you get a guild skill, it will take 5 quests and cost 4000 marks + 1000 marks times the numbers of the skill this will be(minus 1 for your first free one). For example, if you are getting your second guild skill, it will take 5 quests and 5000 marks(4000original marks+ (2 for the second skill-1) times 1000 marks, this comes out to 4000 marks + 1000 marks, it make look confusing but is really easy).

10) How do you advance in ranking and what is the purpose?
Well you must enter the queen's court first of all. Once in you can do a number of things (mingle, boast, etc.) and one option is to petition. I suggest that you mingle first, since mingling decrease the amount of money it takes to go up in rank. If you have a high charm the amount of money is decreased more at a time. Boasting does the same thing but there is a chance you may get kicked out of the castle and lose some money. After doing this is the time to petition, as it is now you can only petition 5k marks at a time. If you petition the 5,000 and then you don't become a new rank, there's nothing to worry about since the money petitioned is cumulative. After doing this, eventually you will go up in rank. Just remember Mingle! Mingle! Mingle! Just to mention, you can gain rank for free, it will says "The queen wishes to speak with you" then petition no money and you will go up in rank depending on a few things, but if you mingled enough you can gain rank for free. The other factor that is involved in rank gaming(besides mingling/boasting and how much you petition and what you're trying to become) is the amount of fame gained since your last rank gain. Yes, you have to go out and kill things before you gain rank(you can't just sit in there and gain a couple of ranks per day, which would be hard anyway). The purpose of rank is just to rank you in the game. It goes by ranking first and then to age. Being nobility also allows free access to the castle without having to fight the guards. The one final thing that nobility will do for you...is give you money in the morning. You'll recieve various amounts of money in the morning once you're a noble, and you get more per day when you increase rank.

11) How does aging affect me?
Aging only affects your ranking in the game, nothing more as of right now. It used to be that it affected your healing ability and it also affected clan leadership, but those effects are long since gone.

12) What are the different ranks in order?
It goes from a)peasant b)knight c)baron d)count e)viscount f)marquis g)earl h)duke i)prince j)regent. Each one gives a different amount of power to each clan. It goes 0-9, 0 for peasants and 9 for regents. There are female ranks equivalent to the other male ranks. Oh yes, there is not a king or queen rank, even though it does seem to appear that way after you become a regent.

13) What are these turnip/troll warts/blind dust/ golden apples?
They are all junk, fun to collect, like the stuff buyable in the goblin mounds. If you have any questions about jewels and other gems check out the item list for there are too many to list(additional note:golden apples and blind dust are no longer obtainable by creatures in the game).

14) Why can't I weild a weird knife/goblin mithril/goblin plate?
Well you kinda grew out of it, I'd say when you were about three. See it is just too small(that's why mystic robes in the mounds are head gear). They're pretty much junk. Actually only the goblin knives in the mounds are unweildable, you can weild the ones you recieve from the dungeons.

15) How can you attack other players?
Plain and simple, you CAN'T. At least not right now. It shall be an option when v2.0 comes out, though. You will also be able to watch players fight each other and place bets on them.

16) What do guild skills do?
Well besides the obvious (giving you bactstab/swindle or berserk or hypnotize) there are some bonuses to getting them even though you may think it only takes away two points from two of your stats. Getting a warrior skill adds a point to your attack permanently for each one you get. Also, for every 4 warrior skills you get an extra use in battle. And, after getting 4 warrior skills you no longer sleep late, you no longer get sick when you begin questing, and you no longer take damage when you awake to go questing. Trader skills add one point to your defense. Trader skills will give you an extra use in battle for every 5 of them that you get. Also, after getting 4 trader skills you'll start to escape battles better, because you "hide". Mage skill don't do much, the lets you use gems and they'll give you an extra battle use for every 6 mage skills you get.

17) When do my quests come back/refresh?
Well quests refresh at 12AM PST(pacific standard time) and 3AM EST (eastern standard time).

18) How do I keep my equipment from rusting?
Well to do this you must put stuff in storage over night. At first you can polish it in the armor shop, the rust isn't permanent. But when you get stronger the rust lasts. If you put equipment in storage, it won't rust overnight at all. So for the players who do not do it later they shall probably regret it at sometime.

19) What are all the special abilities and what do they do?
There are a lot of them... Blind makes it so the monster can't use items during battle. Blast adds an extra boost on the attack of a weapon(25+normal damage to be more precise). Bless can be put on all of your equipment once. It raises the defence by one. Disease lowers the skill of the person affected. Panic makes it so the only option in battle is run away. Luck can be added to you equipment to get it +2 skill. Flame only affects the right hand weapon and it adds four to the attack. Enchant is used on weapons as many times as you want. Each one raises skill by one. Glow on equipment makes it act like a torch so you don't need to carry them around.

20)How does invest work?
Well, to invest just go into the castle like normal. You'll walk inside the royal court room and have the option to invest. Investing is like dicing...but you have more control over it. To invest you need a to have 100k marks in your possession. You will give those 100k marks to a nobleman who will invest it in one of his ventures for you, and then send you word of how it did the next day. You'll most likely have a notion of what is going to happen (it'll tell you if you had a good or bad feeling). What happens is that you can win big time, break even, or the nobleman will be robbed and you'll lose a majority of your money that you invested. Investing you to be very risky and you used to lose more often than you won (you also chose the amount you wanted to invest...) but I'm not to sure how this is going to work. It'll most likely be the same but you'll only be able to invest 100,000 marks. And by the way...curse you Fred, for making me change the FAQ...again!!!!! Hehe

21)What do the gems do?
Well they are pretty much like some of the normally items except you need certain numbers of mage skills, and here's the run down(although you could head off to the item section): Quartz- acts like an identify scroll, w/ 2 mage skills
Opal- acts as a healing salve, w/ 4 mage skills
Garnet- acts as seltzer water, w/ 6 mage skills
Emerald- acts as panic dust, w/ 8 mage skills
Ruby- acts as blinding dust, w/ 10 mage skills
Turquoise- acts as blast powder, w/12 mage skill
You people probably see the pattern with mage skills, you can also peer more than once in a row with opals once you can use them to heal(you don't have to exit peering, then click peer again).

22) How much experience do I need to gain a level?
Well... it's, of course, different from level to level. To gain the first level you need 50 experience. To become level 3 it's 75 experience. Beyond that, it's the sum of the previous two levels, so for level 4 it's 125 experience(50 from level 2 + 75 from level 3 = 125).

23) What's the best equipment in the game?
I would have to say that a miners cap for your head, good asuara (or good war boots, or sea slippers) for your feet, a koutetsu for the body, then I would say a masamune in your right hand and a rams horn in your left. Flaming the masamune and blessing and using a luck scroll on everything and raising the skill. I (TC) personally have an attack of 50 and a defense of 60 using this equipment, plus my trader and warrior skills.
