CBS TV in the first symphony concert to be televised in the United
States. Assisted by affiliate WCAU-TV, Channel 10, in Philadelphia.
The concert was televised live. Ninety minutes later,
NBC-TV carried TV’s second symphonic concert. This one was from
Carnegie Hall in New York City. Arturo Toscanini and the NBC Symphony
Orchestra performed compositions by Richard Wagner.
