Calgary, Alberta, lays nestled just inside the foothills of the blue Canadian rockies,at theKananaskis Country junction of the Bow and Elbow rivers. It is just a relatively short drive from other gorgeous destinations within the rockies themselves, such as Banff National Park, Kananaskis Country,Bragg Creek or even Lake Louise.This picturesque city is home to almost 800,000 people. We are the sixth largest city in Canada and the host city of the 1988 Olympic Winter Games. Our elevation is 1,139 meters or 3,740 feet above sea level. Our city spans 721.42 square kilometers or 278.54 miles. We are the main service center for the Canadian gas and oil industry as well as our agricultural industry. Calgary currently ranks second in Canada as a major head office center.

In the summer, the scenery of Calgary is lush and green, with an abundance of green grassed open areas, foliage and tree lined streets.Prince's Island Park in downtown Calgary  Some of the streets are on gently rolling hills, and the hazy, mystical mountains are the panoramic backdrop view as you drive along. From the many tree canopied streets, to the many lush parks, to spots where one can overlook a large portion of the city; one can see that Calgary is beautifully fresh and vibrant. The atmosphere of the city is friendly and welcoming, especially in the summer during the world famous Calgary Exhibition and Stampede, which is the largest outdoor rodeo in North America. As is the atmosphere as well, in Heritage Park, Canada's largest living historical village. All the sights and sounds of pre-1914 life are recreated, featuring over 150 historical exhibits. Travel back in time to see what Canadian life was like in the early 1900's at this 66 acre parkland. Even with the varying temperatures in the seasons, Calgary is brimming with activities year round, including winter fun and the Canada Olympic Ski Park.
