An organizational meeting was held
on October 23, 1910. It was decided to form the Swan Hill Church Society. A decision was then made to
purchase 1 1/2 acres of land on S.E. 10-49-21-W4 from Anton Pearson for
the sum of 10 dollars . This portion of land was to be used as a cemetery
and church yard. In 1915 plans were made to join the ST. Joseph's Church
organization in building a church. The building site was on 1 acre of land
on N.W. 15-49-21-W4 which they purchased for the sum of 15 dollars from
E.P. Nordin and J. N. Lofgren. In 1918 the church was incorporated
under the name of the Christian Church Society branch in Hay Lakes. At the September meeting
in 1946 it was decided to sell their half share in the church to the ST.
Joseph's Church congregation. In 1949 Mr. Holmberg reported their share
in the church had been sold for the sum of 500 dollars. In 1975 the cemetery received
a grant of 500 dollars from Alberta Culture for the purpose of restoring
the cemetery. This cemetery is still in use and being cared for by the
people who have members of their family interred there. The information
