Neiman Marcus Chocolate Chip Cookies

  • 5 cups rolled oats
  • 4 cups flour
  • 2 tsp. baking soda
  • 2 tsp. baking powder
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 2 cups butter
  • 2 cups granulated sugar
  • 2 cups brown sugar
  • 4 eggs
  • 2 tsp. vanilla
  • 24 oz. semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1 - 18 oz. milk chocolate Hershey Bar (grated)
  • 3 cups chopped pecans or walnuts

Preparation -
Process the oats in a blender or food processor to a fine powder. In a mixing bowl, combine the oatmeal powder with the flour, baking powder, baking soda and salt; set aside. In a large, separate mixing bowl, cream the butter and both sugars together. Add the eggs and vanilla and beat until well blended. Add the dry ingredients and mix well. Stir in the chocolate chips, grated chocolate and nuts. Roll the batter into balls, about 1" to 1-1/2" round each. Place about 2" apart on ungreased cookie sheets. Bake in a preheated oven at 375 for 10 minutes. Remove from the cookie sheets to cool on wire racks.
