Holiday Fruit Cookies

  • 1 cup shortening
  • 2 cups brown sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • 3 1/2 cups flour
  • 1 tsp. baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 2 cups maraschino cherries - cut in halves
  • 1 1/2 cups coarsely chopped pecans
  • 2 cups chopped dates

Preparation - 
Cream shortening and sugar. Beat in eggs. Stir in sour cream. Combine flour, soda, and salt. Add to creamed mixture. Add cherries, dates, and pecans. Chill dough for 1 hour. Drop by teaspoonfuls onto a greased baking sheet. Bake at 350º for 15 minutes.
