"Will you allow me to come in?" I say rather hesitantly as I stand outside the door in the pouring rain.

The woman I sought stands before me gazing into my eyes as if searching for my purpose in coming which she will not find for I, myself do not know it. She nods slowly and opens the door wider to allow me entrance. I step quietly inside the warm abode and begin to extract the soaked layers from my body. One by one she hangs them on the rack near the door to dry. I then follow her into a small parlour with a fire burning in the hearth.

She sits down and motions for me to sit across from her which I do. I cross my legs and look around a bit nervously.

"I am curious as to how you found me and to who you are." she says in a non-admonishing tone, more intrigued than anything.

I clear my throat a moment and gather my thoughts back again before I speak. "I have heard of you and many have told me of your existence. I wanted to find you because your coming into this darkness is not so different from my own story."

This peaks her curiosity for I see her sit up a bit in her chair and take notice. "Oh?" she says softly.

"Yes, if I am correct, you are Lachandra, made from Argusine who was killed when a band of other immortals turned on him for making you one of us."

She settles back in her chair and lets all of this news sink into her mind. She closes her eyes, opens them again and lets out a deep sigh. "You are indeed correct. I'm not sure where you got your information, but whomever the source, they are reliable and truthful. I was made by Argusine and a band of immortals turned on him because I was the jewel of the court. They prized me as I was, the fresh jubilant mortal woman who would succumb to no one's advances. Then, when I was brought into this dark life they were all enraged that my innocence was taken against my will and my warm fresh blood was turned cold. That is why they turned on Argusine.

She pauses for a moment to let all of that sink in and then continues.

"What they did not know was that I had asked Argusine to make me the being I am now. He didn't want to at first, but I tempted him with my innocence and I knew it was an offer he would not refuse. In return for his acts I let him take me in pure mortal fashion. I will admit to you since we are close here and no prying ears are here to listen. I did develop feelings for him that I had not felt for no other. That's why, when he died, I weeped for many days in mourning. I believe it was because when he took my innocence he took that part of me into him, so, when he died, a part of me died with him. It's usually the case in all love stories where the two lovers give eachother their hearts and one dies, pretty much killing the partner who is left alone. You see?"

I nod my head in understanding. "What did you do after that though? I mean, how did you find your way here?" I ask inquiringly, motioning to include the dwelling in my action.

"That wasn't the end of it after he died. They pretty much turned on me as well for not resisting him. But, as I have already told you, I didn't resist him because I wanted it and that is what they do not know to this day."

"Then why do you not go back and tell them all, to set the record straight?" not understanding this whole predicament.

"It's not as easy as that for after I left a new ruler took over and they disbanded and went their seperate ways."

I nod and sit back in my chair, my eyes searching the dimly lit room for some inspiration to speak more, but I find none so I remain in my silence. I then look to her and notice that she is again staring at me curiously.

"All this aside, I am still wondering as to what lead you here."

"I just wanted to hear the story from the source. As I said, my story is not so different from yours. My name is Ariella. I grew up in Bruchenstein, Germany with my brother Aurelius. He was next in line for the throne, but he was taken into the darkness by a woman whom he still does not know to this day. After that he had no wish to participate in mortal affairs that were of no concern to him and his survival. He wanted to go away, but I begged him to stay. In the end he brought me to this side. I went with him for guidance and knowledge as I knew nothing of this life or how to survive."

I see Lachandra nod her head in understanding. "You and him are still close I sense?"

I smile,"Indeed, he brought me into this and a fledgling is always close to their maker, but seeing as how we are brother and sister, it makes that bond even stronger. We have our disputes as all brother and sister couple tend to have from time to time. But he has been a wonderful guiding hand throughout my years and has kept me on the right track."

The sound of the front door opening and closing is heard and in walks a man into the parlour. We both stand to acknowlege his presence. Not because he exudes any kind of authority to all who comes in contact with him, it's just felt to be a polite way of handling situations where a third party enters the scene.

I look to Lachandra and see the surprise in her eyes, she knows this man. "Matthew, I would like you to meet a friend of mine who stopped in to say 'hello', her name is Ariella."

He strides across the room to me and takes my hand in his, squeezing it a bit tighter than just a friendly action would warrant.

"It is a pleasure to have met you, Ariella. Will you stay the eve with us?"

I snap out of my trance,"No, no I should really be going now, but I thank you for the offer," I turn to Lachandra who is keeping a close eye on us both from afar and say to her,"It has been a joy talking with you this eve. I hope we have other chances after this to talk again."

She smiles a faintly warm smile, walks over, takes Matthew by the arm and says,"Indeed, I would like that very much. Take care and have a goodevening!"

I let myself out, back onto the now quiet streets. The rain has since stopped and I pull my coat tightly around me as the wind whips around me in great gusts. I walk back to my apartment flat to rest as the sunlight races to the horizon.
